Permanent Makeup FAQ
We’re The Arch Affect for a reason—in addition to our superior waxing services, we also specialize in crafting amazing eyebrows. Three brow techniques we offer are ombré brows, nano brows, and combination brows. Combination brows are simply using both the ombré and nano brow technique to craft your perfect brows.
What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattooing technique applied to resemble the look of makeup such as eyeliner, lip color or sculpted brows.
What are ombré brows?
Ombré brows are created using a tattooing technique that deposits tiny dots of pigment into the skin to create the look of a soft, but defined, shaded brow.
What are nano brows?
Nano brows, also called nanoblading or sometimes also referred to as nano hair strokes, is a tattooing technique that uses a machine to create extremely fine, hair-like strokes for a realistic looking brow.
What is the difference between microblading and nanoblading?
Nano brows are completed with a digital machine that uses a needle with a super fine point to deposit pigment into the skin. Microblading involves the use of a handheld tool to carve small cuts into the skin, and then pigment is applied on top.
How do I choose between ombré or nano?
It’s all about your personal preference. If you typically prefer to define and shade your brow in with a brow pencil or powder, ombré might be best for you. If you prefer a very natural looking brow, but wish your brows were fuller, nano would be an ideal option. We can also create your perfect brows using a combination of the two techniques! During your consultation we can discuss which technique will be best to achieve your desired look.
How do I prep my brows beforehand?
You’re welcome to arrive to your appointment with your brows filled as a reference point of your preferred shape and style. Otherwise, please be sure to have a bare, clean face.
How to care for your new brows!
Days 1-4:
Gently wash your brows 3 times a day by applying a small amount of cleanser to a cotton disc and gently wiping the brow clean. Briefly let them air dry before applying a thin layer of ointment. Do not oversaturate the area. Avoid direct spray of water and application of any eye makeup for 7 days.
Your brows will initially appear 20-40% darker, bolder, and more than solid than what the healed result will look like. You might also experience minimal swelling. To reduce any swelling, you may use covered ice packs for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off, for no more than 45 minutes. Swelling should subside by day 3.
Please avoid prolonged sun exposure, saunas, chlorine, gyms, and any strenuous activities that may lead to sweating. Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, and touching the area without clean hands for 7 days.
Days 5-7:
Cleanse the brows 2 times a day, then apply a thin layer of ointment. By now your eyebrows should have begun to scab. They may begin to itch and the pigment may appear somewhat raised, but do not pick or scratch them. Picking or scratching can cause loss of color or scarring. Once the scabbing has completely fallen off, the color will appear lighter. The color under the exfoliating skin will continue to appear lighter until the epidermis takes on its more transparent characteristics. Please keep in mind that healing is specific to each individual.
No adjustments can be made once the healing process has begun. Minor adjustments can be addressed at the recommended 6-8 week perfecting session.
Signs and symptoms of infection include, but are not limited to: redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, and purulent drainage from the procedure site.
If you are experiencing any of these signs and symptoms, please seek medical attention immediately.
How long will my ombré brows last?
Ombré brows can last 2-5 years depending on your lifestyle and your skin type.
How long do nano brows last?
Nano brows can last 1-3 years depending on your lifestyle and your skin type.
